Lessons from Abdelwahed El-Wakil

Sometimes, you come across something that just "clicks"! And this 30 min documentary was one of those moments.

I have never heard of Abdelwahed El-Wakil nor his mentor, Hassan Fathy, but their approach to architecture gave me valuable insights that I will now consider when designing my dream home.

I really admire how El-Wakil resisted modern trends that prioritize functionality above all else, and instead revived traditional, soulful designs with identity.

It’s rare to encounter ideas that feel both timeless and revolutionary.
